With a BSc in Agriculture from Aberdeen University, Scotland and Masters in Horticulture & Floriculture from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, he is also armed with certificates of excellence in fields of aquaponics, hydroponics, aeroponics and fruit farming from various countries. His interest in wildlife and agriculture has enabled him to travel all over the world, allowing him to study and learn from various climatic conditions, soils and environments. Nirosh was one of the first farmers to construct his own commercial hydroponic systems in Sri Lanka, where he also helped others set up their own systems through his workshops.
Nirosh has been cultivating fruits and vegetables in open fields with sprinkler or drip irrigation, greenhouse and tunnel agriculture. He is also involved in his parent’s company, which has been managing tea, rubber and coconut plantations for the last 50 years (started by his grandfather). He also owned and operated dairy cattle, dairy goats, egg laying chickens, ducks and turkeys. Integrating animals and plants intrigued him from childhood, and he was successful in establishing innovative techniques to convert his hobbies into commercially viable farms.
